I am a doctor who works in the UK. My wife and I are originally from India, and we have been living in the UK for the past 5 years. We have a young son, and we were recently approved for a visa for my mother-in-law to come and live with us.

The process of applying for a visa for my mother-in-law was quite complex, but it was ultimately successful. I wanted to share my experience with other doctors who may be considering bringing their parents to the UK.

The first step is to gather the required documents.

The following documents are required for a visa for parents:

  • A recent bank account statement as proof of sponsorship
  • A letter from your employer as proof you can afford the expenses
  • Your tenancy agreement as a proof of address
  • Papers showing that your parents have a home tie, such as owning a flat or house, or having a current job
  • Or a family certificate showing that they have other family members related to them and they have to look after them, such as brothers or sisters younger than you
  • Parents' bank account if available
  • Reason for their travel, for example, if you have a pregnant wife and she is going to deliver and you need someone to look after her

Once you have gathered the required documents, you can start the application process.

The application process can be done online or by post. I recommend doing the application online, as it is the most efficient way to apply.

The online application process is quite straightforward. You will need to fill out a form and provide the required documents. You will also need to pay a visa application fee.

Once you have submitted your application, you will need to wait for a decision.

The decision on your application can take up to 8 weeks. If your application is successful, your parents will be issued a visa.

The visa for parents is valid for 2 years.

After 2 years, your parents will need to apply for a new visa if they want to stay in the UK.

The process of applying for a visa for parents can be complex, but it is ultimately possible.

I hope this blog post has been helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Good luck with your application!
